Kathmandu: Newly elected members of the House of Representatives from the Falgun 21 elections have taken the oath of office and secrecy today, formally bringing the new parliament into operation.

Oath Ceremony at Parliament
The oath was administered by senior-most member Arjun Narsingh KC at a special ceremony held in the multipurpose hall of the newly constructed Parliament building at Singha Durbar.

Earlier, KC had taken his oath from President Ram Chandra Poudel and subsequently administered the oath to 274 other elected lawmakers.

House Revived After Dissolution
With the swearing-in, the House of Representatives—dissolved on Bhadra 27—has officially come back into existence. This also opens the constitutional pathway for the formation of a new government.

Cultural and Linguistic Diversity on Display
The ceremony reflected Nepal’s rich diversity, with 47 lawmakers taking the oath in their mother tongues in addition to Nepali. Members were seen wearing traditional and ethnic attire representing various communities.

Constitutional Provision
The oath-taking was conducted in accordance with Articles 99 and 91(5) of the Constitution of Nepal and Section 75 of the House of Representatives Election Act, 2074 BS.
